Key Club Foreign Language Club Speech and Debate
I have participated in JHS Key Club for four years. Students must complete 15 hours of service a year. In order to remain a member, students to remain active and attend 3 service events per month. I have attended district leadership conference 2 years in a row and leadership conference once. I have been member of year, service chair, and president of the club. I have also been selected as a finalist to represent Key Club International on the Kiwanis International board. Key Club has allowed for many opportunities in community engagement,
leadership, and entrepreneurship. |
I have been an active member of FLC for 3 years. Each meeting, students are exposed to a new country and culture. I have participated in Spanish classes for three years and participated in Missouri Southern University Foreign Language Field Day. I have been appointed as a President of the club for my senior year.

I have been a member of JHS Speech and Debate for two years. To remain a member, students must attend 6 tournaments per year and run annual tournament. I currently serve as secretary of the team. Debate has allowed me to develop my public speaking skills and gain insight to world problems. I have received best novice debater and placed at the district competition.

Decisions Varsity Cheer FBLA
SADD is a returning program to JHS this year. I have been elected to serve as vice president of the organization. I have also been selected to serve of the SWMO alliance youth advisory board. The goal is promote a better lifestyle for our peers.
DECAI have been a member of DECA for 3 years. DECA has allowed me to explore the small business community of Joplin. I have been able to talk with small business owners and learn the routes they took to start their businesses in Joplin.
Student CouncilI been appointed to student council at JHS. This has allowed me to voice my opinion about my school and become more involved in activities that take place within it.
Tomorrows Leaders TodayAfter a highly competitive application and interview process, I was selected as one of few students from surrounding communities to participate in a program organized by the Joplin Chamber of Commerce. TLT is a program that promotes civic engagement, develops leadership skills, and prepares students for higher education. TLT brings business and community leaders to discuss current community issues and career opportunities.

I have been on the JHS cheer team for 3 years. Each year at camp I was nominated for all-american team spot. As a squad, we received numerous awards and 1st place at two competitions. Aside from competing, we ran a cheer clinic for children in the community.
Peer BuddiesAfter an application and interview process I was selected to be a peer buddy for special education students at JHS. I attended the special olympics as well as other events with my peer buddy.
National Honor SocietyI was inducted to NHS at JHS my junior year. In order to remain a member, students must have a 3.75 GPA, no behavior referrals, and a 95% attendance rate.

I have been a member of FBLA for four years. I have been given offered many opportunities for public speaking and becoming engaged in the business community of Joplin. I am excited to see how I will be able to apply my skills learned beyond high school.
Young DemocratsI have been a member of Young Democrats club for three years at JHS. I have been given the opportunity to speak with senator Claire McCaskill, be introduced on the house and senate floor, and tour historical locations in our capital city. At our high school, we have organized voter registration drives and recycling initiatives.
We The PeopleI am one of eighteen seniors to serve on the JHS constitution team. Constitution team is a year long competitive team in which students study and apply the constitution of the United States. We The People organization promotes civic engagement and responsibility among high school students.
