Community Service
Community service has been a huge part of my life from the beginning. Growing up, my dad and partners founded a nonprofit children's foundation. I was surrounded by the dedication and work of people everyday of my life. Eventually, I discovered the fuel to spark the fire in my soul. That fuel was service. I have dedicated over 500 hours of service to my community, nation, and world. I have received numerous honors and awards for my dedication to service. I have even been selected as a finalist to represent Key Club International of the Kiwanis International board and a finalist to be a member of the Camp Fire Youth Advisory Cabinet. Being involved in my school and community has allowed me to make connections with community members that will prove to be beneficial after graduation and in to my career. Read below to learn more about the organizations I serve most with.
Key Club
Key Club International is the largest and oldest student led service organization in the world. Key club is sponsored by Kiwanis International. Members are provided with opportunities to serve, build character and develop leadership. I currently serve as the president of Joplin High School Key Club. Over the course of four years, I have donated over 200 hours of community service through my club with my peers. Listed below are organizations which JHS Key Club has donated time and funds to helping. I have learned so much with the help of Kiwanis. I have made close connections with businesses and members of the Joplin Kiwanis club, learned more about my passion for serving others, and realizing the importance of good leadership skills. I have recently attended the International Key Club Convention in Anaheim, California. While attending the convention I listened to guest speakers, attended service fairs, trained for my leadership position, learned about servant leadership, and elect new international board members. Art Feeds National
Art Feeds is a local nonprofit that provides therapeutic art and creative education to children. After dedicating numerous hours to Art Feeds National, I was offered an Internship by Founder Meg Bourne. I am now a trained Art Feeds educator and teach kids all around the Joplin community each week. I commit a few hours of my time every day to my internship of the Art Feeds Headquarters located in Joplin, MO. I have learned the inner workings of nonprofit organizations and seen both the good and bad about the creation of a nonprofit. I have learned how to creative problem solve anything that I am faced with and how to collaboratively work with people of all ages.
